PUBLIC INFORMATION ANNOUNCEMENT

Clay County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives in concert with the Jacksonville Medical Examiner’s Office have positively identified the victim of the Dothan Road fatal fire/arson that took place Saturday.



The burned remains discovered at the home are those of Maria Eugenia Ruiz (DOB 4-17-59). Ruiz lived in the home where the fire occurred for several months prior to her death there.



The victim’s next-of-kin were located and have been notified. The investigation continues into the cause of the fire and the exact cause of Ruiz’s death.
