Train Decouples in Orange Park
Wednesday, March 04, 2009

PUBLIC INFORMATION ANNOUNCEMENT

For Immediate Release
March 4, 2009

Decoupled Train Blocking Orange Park Rail Crossings

At approximately 12:30pm today two portions of a CSX train became uncoupled while traveling on a section of railroad tracks through Orange Park. As a result, there are two roads blocked – Parkside and Peoria, both intersecting Doctor’s Lake Drive. These two crossings will be blocked for the next few hours while crews work to connect the two separated train cars so it can continue on its route. This is an area of substantial residential traffic and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible. Delays are expected. Residents of neighborhoods at Parkside and Peoria should enter their neighborhoods from Moody Avenue instead.

The train did NOT derail and there were no injuries involved.

CCSO deputies are on the scene to direct and divert traffic away from the area. Please contact CSX Public Relations for addition information on this incident.
