PUBLIC INFORMATION ANNOUNCEMENT
Burglary Suspect Photos Released; Screen Porches Targeted for Entry
Detectives from the CCSO General Investigations Unit have obtained surveillance photos of a man they suspect is responsible for a large series of home burglaries committed in Clay County in recent weeks. Our agency would like the public’s help in identifying this suspect.
Nearly a dozen homes in Clay County (the majority in the Oakleaf area) have been burglarized and the burglar in these cases entered the homes by cutting through porch screens to access unlocked house doors. Detectives believe these burglaries were committed between midnight and 5am. They also believe that the suspect entered some homes that were occupied, stole items from inside the homes and then was able to exit the homes without waking the sleeping residents, in some cases. Residents awoke to find household items, purses and other belongings missing and the porch screen cut through.
Please direct your readers/viewers to call the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 904-264-6512 if they recognize the man or the vehicle in the attached photos. The suspect is a white male and the vehicle is a dark colored, single cab truck, possibly a Toyota model.
Members of the media with questions may call CCSO Det. Chad Ricks, also at 904-264-6512. He is available to answer questions and/or provide additional details.
Thank you,
Mary Justino
