PUBLIC INFORMATION ANNOUNCEMENT
For Immediate Release
August 3, 2009
CCSO deputies arrested 38-year-old Raymond Austin of Keystone Heights on
Saturday afternoon. This man rammed the vehicle he was driving into the back of a CCSO patrol car and then fled the scene. Following an extensive search, he was located and arrested. Fortunately, CCSO Deputy Ryan Clark was not injured in the crash.
According to court records, Raymond Austin's license was revoked for ten years beginning in August of 1999 due to a DUI conviction. It was then cancelled indefinitely in April of 2008 due to his failure to complete substance abuse treatment. He is currently also wanted by the Alachua County Sheriff's Office on a warrant for Driving While License Suspended (2nd Offense).
The investigation into the crash that occurred this weekend in Clay County remains active. We await the results of toxicology tests that will reveal whether or not the suspect was intoxicated at the time of the wreck with our patrol deputy. Additional charges are pending.
