CCSO “Targets” Organized Shoplifting in Clay County
Members of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office General Investigations Unit applied for and received a special grant through Target and met today with company representatives to receive the check. (see photo attached)
The $1,000 grant will be used to purchase surveillance equipment that will further the detectives’ efforts to identify and capture criminals taking part in organized shoplifting. Organized shoplifting involves a group of thieves who go into stores with specific items in mind based on “orders” given to them by other criminals who will fence (sell or trade illegally) the stolen items afterwards.
Target representatives Jeff Betts and Rory O’Connell were on hand today to present the check to CCSO Lt. Anthony Dangerfield. Betts and O’Connell, both with Target’s Assets Protection team, work with CCSO detectives regularly on cases involving large organized shoplifting. This law enforcement grant is a continuation of that partnership.
