PUBLIC INFORMATION ANNOUNCEMENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 18, 2010
Clay County Sheriff’s Office Adds Legislative Issues to Public Website
Due to the importance of several legislative proposals currently under consideration by our legislators in Tallahassee, Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler joins with sheriffs across the state in the effort to educate and motivate residents. Citizens can now go to the CCSO’s public website at www.claysheriff.com to view information about proposed legislation that impacts – positively and negatively – law enforcement efforts in our county and state. From this site residents can also email their state senators and representatives directly to voice their opinions.
Below is an excerpt of Sheriff Beseler’s message on the site’s legislative information page:
“In virtually every opinion poll public safety continues to be one of the primary concerns for the citizens of Florida. And that’s why I urge all residents to keep an eye on the legislative process that is taking place in Tallahassee. As with all law enforcement agencies, the CCSO has a duty to enforce the laws of the state. But writing laws is the job of the Florida Legislature. Each year, hundreds of new state laws are proposed in Tallahassee. …. We must not turn the clock back on justice in Florida. I encourage you to read these proposed bills and join sheriffs like me in making our voices heard.”
We encourage members of the media and all residents to visit the CCSO website and click on the Proposed State Legislation button to learn more about proposals that directly affect public safety in our community. Thank you.
