PUBLIC INFORMATION ANNOUNCEMENT
Arrest Made in Case of Stolen Grave Marker Vases in Keystone Heights
Another great example of the community being able to help law enforcement solve crime once they are informed and can be "on the lookout."
The CCSO is investigating the theft of over $7,000 worth of brass grave marker vases from a cemetery in Keystone Heights (7301 SR 100). The City of Keystone Heights reported the theft in March and our detectives have been investigating and following leads since then, but have been unable to locate the stolen items or the suspect(s) responsible. As such, we'd like to draw attention to this crime and are asking for the community's assistance.
The lead investigator is Det. Chad Ricks and he is available to answer questions about the case today until 1pm. Please let me know if you'd like to speak to him. Ricks does suspect that the stolen grave marker vases may have been stolen and sold (attempted or successfully) as scrap metal.
It is disturbing any time criminals target the property or possessions of a cemetery where families feel their loved ones should be honored and respected...not be the targets of theft and vandalism.
