Candlelight Memorial for Hit-and-Run Victim Brien Alvezios & Traffic Advisory
Family and friends of Brien Alvezios, a 13-year-old Clay County student killed last week by a hit-and-run driver in Middleburg, will hold a candlelight memorial in honor of the victim tomorrow night (Dec. 3rd). The memorial will be held in a field located near the crash site on Brannanfield Road (closest cross-street is Trailridge) at 9:40pm, which is the estimated time of the crash and Brien's death. The Florida Highway Patrol is the primary investigating agency on this case. The driver of the vehicle that hit Alvezios has not yet been arrested and the investigation is ongoing. Please contact the FHP with questions related to the status of the case.
Local law enforcement agencies and fire/rescue will be on site from 9pm-10:15pm Saturday to assist with traffic and public safety for the event. This area is a two-lane, busy roadway. Motorists who need to travel through the area tomorrow night are asked to do so with caution and to be aware of those members of the community attending the vigil.
Alvezios Family friend and vigil coordinator Charlene Laidler can be reached at 904-413-2219 with any questions.
