A Media Release from Wayne Beard, FSO-Public Education:
Auxiliarists from United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 14-5 kick off National Safe Boating Week activities in Clay and Putnam Counties with FREE ramp-side Vessel Safety Checks (VSCís) during the month of May.
Vessels passing safety checks are awarded a U.S. Coast Guard / Auxiliary Decal that shows the boat in full compliance with all federal and state boating regulations for 2012. In case you miss them at the ramp, you can request your FREE VSC by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
Kids can get into the act, too, at BoatingSidekicks.com, a web site offered by the National Safe Boating Council. This site teaches youngsters about safe boating through games and fun activities.
Flotilla 14-5 also offers boaters an opportunity to earn the State of Florida Boater Safety ID Card with a FREE one-day Boaters Safety class. The next session is Saturday June 16th in Green Cove Springs. To reserve seats in this class or in a future class, contact email@example.com. The class is required for boaters born after January 1, 1988 and is helpful to all who wish to improve their boating skills and help ensure their familyís safety on the water.
