Safe Boating is No Accident – FREE Class Available in Clay County
Did you know that 100% of the local boaters whose vessel failed the Vessel Safety Check (VSC) during recent National Safe Boating Week exercises have never taken a Safe Boating course? Taking a local Boating Safety Course can insure that boaters in our area pass – not fail – that check should they be stopped on one of our waterways by law enforcement officials. Participants earn a State of Florida Boater Safety ID Card and gain valuable information to avoid placing themselves or their vessel at risk by failure to properly equip the boat or recognize common hazards on the water.
For boaters born after January 1, 1988, a State of Florida Boater Safety ID Card is required by Florida law. One-day, FREE Boater Safety classes are held at the USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 14-5’s headquarters at 910 Roland Avenue in Green Cove Springs starting at 9:00AM one Saturday a month. All attendees must pre-register prior to attendance. To register for the next available class or to schedule a free Vessel Safety check contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Questions may be directed to Wayne Beard, Flotilla Staff Officer – Public Education, at 386-698-2353.
