CCSO Arrests 4 Dozen Drug Suspects in Warrant Sweep
Clay County Drug Task Force members (CCSO, GCSPD, OPPD, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, DEA, SAO, ATF and Dept. of Corrections) are wrapping up today on a major warrant sweep that netted forty-seven (47) drug related arrests. This sweep is the culmination of one year’s worth of investigation and undercover work. Detectives responded to law-abiding residents’ concerns about illegal drug activity in their neighborhoods and the negative impact the drug trade (mainly cocaine and pills) was having on their community. While the original emphasis of the operation was on the drug trade activity in the Forman Circle area of Middleburg, information quickly led detectives also to suspects all over Clay County as the arrest list reflects. The Task Force members spanned out across Clay County yesterday to locate and arrest these suspects.
Please find attached the list of defendants for whom warrants were obtained and arrests made. While all of the arrests are notable, one is more significant than the others. 31-year-old Maurice Futch of Forman Circle was one of the main targets of the operation due to his constant illegal drug-dealing activity. He is considered a high level dealer and is now charged with multiple counts of sale and delivery of cocaine plus sale and delivery of crack within 1,000 feet of a church. He is also charged with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon and drug possession.
