Search Continues for Attempted Home Invasion Robbery Suspects
Clay County Sheriff’s Office Deputies continue to search for two suspects wanted for questioning in an early morning home invasion robbery attempt. The incident happened shortly after 7am today at a home located at 2946 College Park Drive, Middleburg (near CR 220 and College Ave….commonly known as the Doctor’s Inlet area of Clay County). The victims report two men armed with guns kicked in the door of their home and approached a male resident. When the adult female resident entered the room the suspects fled on foot. No one was injured and we do not know why this home was targeted.
As a precautionary measure, the responding CCSO Juvenile Crime Unit deputies worked in conjunction with school system officials to place a nearby school (Doctor’s Inlet Elementary) on lock down. For about one hour students were kept inside their classrooms and held in arriving buses (not permitted to unload). Within the last 30 minutes the lock down was lifted and all school functions there are back to normal.
The victims describe the suspects as two black males dressed in black/camo-colored clothing. Both CCSO Patrol and K-9 units are deployed in the search effort. Anyone who has information regarding the suspects is asked to call the CCSO at 904-264-6512.
