Jewelry Thief ID'd and Arrested
Thanks to the keen eyes of a CCSO detective and of our agency's Facebook friends, 24-year-old Duzti (pronounced Dusty) Davis of Clay County was identified as the suspect wanted in four theft investigations and was arrested early this morning.
On December 21, 2012, this information was posted on our agency Facebook page and sent out to the media as a release and to our staff internally: Jewelry Thief Targets Target's Silver: The CCSO needs the community's assistance identifying a female shoplifter who targets Target stores and the silver jewelry sold there. Detectives believe this same female suspect is responsible for at... least three cases in Clay County between October and December 2012 and additional cases in Duval County. This photo shows her leaving a Target store here in Clay after stashing dozens of silver necklaces in the bottom of her bag. In two of the three local cases she leaves the area in a silver vehicle. Anyone with info is asked to call the CCSO at 904-264-6512. Detective Adam Graff is the lead detective on this case and welcomes information about this suspect's name and location.
Following this release/posting, a CCSO detective recognized the woman in the photo from previous investigations and simultaneously we heard from Facebook friends who also recognized her. The identity was confirmed by Det. Adam Graff and warrants obtained. The female suspect had shaved her head since committing the last theft on 12/21/12. Davis is held on $40,000 total bond and faces four felony charges.
We appreciate the community's attention to this and other cases that require suspect identification assistance.
