Volunteer Programs

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office welcomes the volunteer involvement of the citizens of Clay County.

In fact, there are many outreach services that our agency could not provide if it weren’t for our volunteers. No matter what your area of interest, thank you in advance for helping this agency better serve our community!

Our Volunteers in Police Services program – or VIPS – is a program for unpaid volunteers at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office that allows adult Clay County residents the opportunity to assist their community by assisting our agency in a wide variety of ways. In addition to the standard VIPS opportunities, we even have a program through which you can help patrol our local waterways (MVP Program) and one that allows you to show off your antique car or truck (Unforgettable Rides).

Our VIPS program currently boasts a roster of 288 members who assist us throughout the agency. They contributed 8,974 volunteer hours in 2014! Wont’ you join them? Please contact Volunteer Coordinator Bill Doolittle at 904-213-6062 to request more information or with questions about the application process.

Jail Ministry Program

There are also opportunities for eligible members of the community to volunteer to assist with faith-based programs inside the Clay County Jail.  Please contact CCSO Chaplain Doug Matyi at 904-213-5924 for details.  Chaplain Matyi conducts Jail Volunteer orientations twice each year.  Our Jail Ministry Program involves eleven services conducted weekly led by volunteers
