Sheriff’s Office Raising Awareness about Child Abuse Prevention

Green Cove Springs, Fla. April 11 – April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The community is invited to join deputies and staff with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office as they promote awareness about the issue of child abuse by “Building Community, Building Hope.” Look for blue pinwheels as the Pinwheels for Prevention Truck rolls into the parking lot across from the sheriff’s office headquarters, 327 N. Orange Ave., on April 13 from 4 – 6:30 p.m.

The family-fun event will feature demonstrations, games, face painting, prizes and much more. Pinwheels for Prevention, a national campaign designed to increase awareness of child abuse prevention efforts, highlights programs and activities that promote happy, healthy child development.

“There is simply no excuse for child abuse. There have been more than 630 serious cases reported over the last two years in Clay County. Our goal is to provide education and resources to end this senseless crime,” said Sheriff Darryl Daniels. “Every child deserves to grow and prosper in a safe environment.”
