Free Safe Boating Class and Free Frosty
Green Cove Springs, Fla. May 10 – Florida boating season is in full swing and there is so much about the waterways to enjoy! The Clay County Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure you are safe while boating. You still have time to register for this month’s free, safe boating course this Saturday, May 13. If you operate a powerboat, sailboat, canoe, kayak, rowboat or stand-up paddleboard, this class is for you.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s course will be held from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the USCG AUX Headquarters, 1 Bunker Ave., in Green Cove Springs. Families are welcome. Upon successful completion of the class, participants will receive a Florida Boater Education I.D. Card that is good for life. Seating is limited and reservations are required. When you are on the water, don’t forget your life jacket. National Boating Safety Week, a campaign to promote boating and life jacket safety, is May 20 – 26. Deputies will give a coupon for a free Frosty from Wendy’s when they see a child wearing a life jacket while boating. Wear it and be safe on the water!
