Detectives Need Your Assistance
Green Cove Springs, Fla. July 14 – Detectives with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office need your help identifying a suspect. On July 9, a man entered a local, retail business and portrayed himself as an electronic equipment repair technician. He then pretended to work on debit/credit card scanning equipment. He accessed an unattended cash register and loaded more than $2,000 onto five gift cards, without paying for the service.
The same suspect conducted a similar crime on June 21 in Dothan, Alabama. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’ 9” – 6’ tall, weighing 210 – 220 pounds, with a beard.
During both crimes, the suspect wore business casual attire with an unknown nametag and carried a scanning device on his right hip. He was driving a newer model, dark colored Nissan Altima or Maxima.
