The Citizens’ Academy will begin on Aug. 16. The program is designed to provide the public with a working knowledge of the mission, operations, policies and personnel of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The goals of the academy are to create trust and understanding between the sheriff’s office and the citizens of our county. The academy also provides a productive outlet for the mutual sharing of information and concerns in order to further our shared goal of a safer Clay County.
Two, eight-week sessions will be held each year. During the course, citizens will learn how each department in the agency operates, including the specialized units such as Narcotics, Negotiations, DIVE, Marine and SWAT. They will also tour the sheriff’s office headquarters and participate in citizen ride-alongs.
We encourage you to apply for the Citizens’ Academy.
