Citizens’ Academy
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Academy is held twice a year and offers residents a behind-the-scenes look at how the Sheriff’s Office operates. This interactive nine-week program is designed to give participants a deeper understanding of our mission, policies, and day-to-day operations while strengthening the bond between deputies and the community we serve.
Each Wednesday evening, participants meet with members of our team to explore the inner workings of various divisions, including specialized units such as SWAT, Marine, Dive, and Negotiations. Attendees will also tour CCSO Headquarters and the courthouse, and experience a citizen ride-along with a deputy.
The Citizens’ Academy is an excellent opportunity to learn, connect, and see firsthand how we work together to keep Clay County safe.
Our next Academy will be held in 2027.
Requirements:
- Must be age 21 or over.
- Must be a Clay County Resident or Clay County Business Owner.
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
- Must be able to attend a minimum of 8 out of the 9 weeks.
