Our Citizens’ Academy is held twice each year. It is designed to provide the public with a working knowledge of the mission, policies, and operations of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. It also provides a productive outlet for the mutual sharing of information and concerns between citizens and CCSO personnel, which fosters open communication and further builds community relationships.
During each nine-week session, citizens meet on Wednesday evenings to learn how each department in the agency operates. Specialized units such as Negotiations, Dive, Marine, and SWAT are highlighted. Participants also tour CCSO headquarters and the courthouse and will participate in a citizen ride-along with a deputy.
