Our Spring course of the 2018 Citizens’ Academy recently graduated. This course was held on Wednesday evenings, from 6-9 PM, and concluded on March 21st with the graduation ceremony. Our Spring course was interesting, educating and adventurous. Our next course will begin in the Fall (date to-be-determined).
The Citizens’ Academy is designed to provide the public with a working knowledge of the mission, operations, policies and personnel of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The goals of the academy are to create trust and understanding between the sheriff’s office and the citizens of our county. The academy also provides a productive outlet for the mutual sharing of information and concerns in order to further our shared goal of a safer Clay County.
Two, ten-week sessions are held each year. During the course, citizens will learn how each department in the agency operates, including the specialized units such as Negotiations, Dive, Marine and SWAT. They will also tour the sheriff’s office headquarters, clerk of court and participate in citizen ride-alongs, to name just a few exciting portions.
We encourage you to apply for the Citizens’ Academy by completing the application linked below and emailing it to firstname.lastname@example.org – Further questions can be directed to our Community Affairs Unit located at the Middleburg Operations Center.
