Citizens’ Academy

The starting date for our spring course of the Citizens’ Academy 19-01 is set for Wednesday, January 9th.  The course is currently filled; however, we have a waiting list and encourage our community to apply.  Should you not make this one, as it is filled, then your name can be processed for our fall course, if you are able to attend once those dates are announced.

Want to know more about the academy?  READ BELOW:

The Citizens’ Academy is designed to provide the public with a working knowledge of the mission, operations, policies and personnel of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. The goals of the academy are to create trust and understanding between the sheriff’s office and the citizens of our county. The academy also provides a productive outlet for the mutual sharing of information and concerns in order to further our shared goal of a safer Clay County.

Two, ten-week sessions are held each year.  During the course, citizens will learn how each department in the agency operates, including the specialized units such as Negotiations, Dive, Marine and SWAT. They will also tour the sheriff’s office headquarters, clerk of court and participate in citizen ride-alongs, to name just a few exciting portions.

We encourage you to apply for the Citizens’ Academy by completing the application linked below and emailing it to neighborhoodnews@claysheriff.com – Further questions can be directed to our Community Affairs Unit located at the Middleburg Operations Center: CCSO Citizens Academy Application
