The Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is one of many law enforcement partners at the federal, state, local, tribal and territorial levels that form the backbone of our nation’s domestic defense against terrorist attacks.
Law enforcement officers are our country’s eyes and ears on the ground, and the first line of detection and prevention. To support these partners, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has almost 90 percent of its employees stationed outside Washington, D.C. in communities across the country. These localized DHS members have direct contact with CCSO if or when the need arises.
