ORANGE PARK, FL – At approximately 4:56 PM Sunday afternoon, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received several 911 calls in regards to a potential active shooting incident at the Orange Park Mall. Deputies were on the scene within two minutes of the initial calls.

The CCSO conducted multiple security sweeps of businesses within the interior of the mall, evacuating more than 600 people in the process. Additionally, Clay County Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, but no injuries were reported.

After speaking to witnesses and reviewing video surveillance, the CCSO determined that a gun was never brandished, and no shots were fired.

At this time, the incident appears to be related to a physical altercation between two juveniles near the food court at the mall.

For those who may have left personal items in the mall, the mall will reopen only at the food court entrance at 7:30 PM for them to recover their belongings. For any questions related to retrieving items left in the mall, please call Orange Park Mall Security at 904-269-2422.
